Multiple reports claim that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), searched the Indiana home of Mike Pence, former Vice President, to search for classified documents.
According to a spokesperson for CNN, the former vice president is currently in the West Coast with his family following the birth of his daughter. The spokesperson also stated that Pence’s private lawyer is also present at his Indiana home while the search takes place. In the following days, it is reported that Pence’s Washington, DC, home will be searched.
This is because the former vice president provided classified documents to federal officials that he found at his Indiana home last month. The documents had been “inadvertently packaged up and transported and Mr. Pence wasn’t aware of their existence.”
CNN reported that the FBI and the Justice Department’s National Security Division had “reviewed the documents and how they ended in Pence’s home” since then. “It is unclear what the documents relate to, or how sensitive or classified they are.”
Pence previously admitted that there were “mistakes” in the classified documents. He also took responsibility for their ending up at his house. Pence also promised to cooperate with any FBI investigation. Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle was informed last week by a source close to Pence that the former vice president will comply with all authorities and has been in contact with the FBI regarding the possibility of additional searches.
Pence turned over classified documents to federal officials after multiple reports revealed that between 2o-25 documents had been found in Biden’s vice-presidential area at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, Washington, D.C. and other locations, including his Delaware home. Federal authorities have searched Biden’s Delaware homes twice since the discovery of the documents.
Pence and Biden made the document disclosures as former President Donald Trump’s Florida residence, Mar-A-Lago was raided last summer by FBI agents. The FBI searched his home for classified material that the ex-president could have taken from the White House after he left. According to reports, agents searched Melania Trump’s bedroom as well as her closets. Some of the materials seized by the FBI included more than 50 empty folders.
